NMDC National Blitz Championship
Tournament Report
The National Blitz Chess Championship sponsored by the NMDC was organized by Cyber Chess Academy, under the auspices of the A.P. Chess Association at the sophisticated Jubilee Hills International Centre, Hyderabad on 5th June 2009. Around 50 players including 4 Grandmaster , 14 International Master and 4 FIDE Masters have participated in this scintillating event. The players were given three minutes each with additional time of 2 seconds for each move made . All the 11 rounds were played within a span of 6 hrs. The Tournament was inaugurated by Shri.S.N.Mohanty, Principal Secretary (Youth Advancement), and the NMDC trophy was unveiled by Shri.V.K.Sharma, Director Commercial, graced by Shri.D.Virinchi of SBH and Shri.Bandhakavi of NMDC and Sateesh of JHIC

R.B. Ramesh started the blitz event splendidly to score six points in as many rounds and in the seventh round, Neelotpal Das of PSPB brought him down,.to be on par with him and Girinath. Both Girinath and Neelotpal lost in the next round, enabling Ramesh to regain gthe sole lead. He managed to hold on the lead to win the tile and a cash prize of Rs.20000/- and M.R.Lalith Babu of AP subdued Neelotpal Das in a thrilling game to secure the second spot. The event was so interesting with spectators had a T20 type in a chess tournament.
